Working with web communication at a university, we constantly need to address the demands of very different target groups. Our sources of information are many, and the tools for knowledge sharing and collaboration are diverse. A website or an intranet alone can never meet the needs of our external visitors or our co-workers. Therefore our websites can never be the single source of information or the single platform for daily work.
This session will describe:
- how search can be used as a “fabric” to integrate and combine diverse channels of information and knowledge
- how the use of a powerful search solution can help us to tie different sources, tools and systems together to create a more integrated user experience
- the challenges that this perspective presents in relation to organization, integration, metadata, etc.
