In 2017 the University of Bergen is launching a new lab for digital education and dissemination in the context of a large new media cluster, Media City Bergen (MCB). MCB brings together public and research institutions, such as UiB, and several of the major media companies in Norway and global technology corporations; TV2,  NRK, BT, BA, Vizrt and small, forward-leaning mediatech companies and entrepreneurs- all situated in Bergen, Norway.  The cluster aims to build an international environment for innovation in media and knowledge, based on media content production, media development, digital technology, research collaboration and the education of journalists.

As a central part of MCB, the university adds a strong research and education component to the media cluster. This session will describe and discuss the idea behind the university involvement, the launching of the lab for digital education and dissemination, and the steps we are taking to reach the goal of being a center where excellent research and education are transformed into excellent digital communication and dissemination.
